How to Install a Pendant Light

Versatile and affordable pendant lights are a great addition to any lighting plan. They can provide accent and task lighting and can be hung singly or in groups. This easy DIY project can usually be completed in under an hour.

Step.1

Turn off the power at the breaker box

Step.2

Remove the old fixture

Disconnect the wires

Step.3

Attach the bracket to the electrical box

Feed the pendant wire up through the bracket

Determine how low you want the pendant to hang and cut the excess wire

Step.4

Strip the ends of the wires 

Connect the electrical wires matching the wire color on the fixture with the wire color from the ceiling. Twist the wires together using wire nuts 

Carefully tuck the wires into the electrical box 

Step.5

Connect the canopy
