Every one of Schlage's L-Series locks meets ANSI Grade 1 standards for safety.

Classroom Lock: The latchbolt retracts from either side with a turn of the lever unless the outside is locked by use of a key. The inside lever is always free for immediate egress. An auxiliary latch deadlocks the latchbolt when the door is closed.
