A Dream Kitchen by Meg Piercy of MegMade
After years of breathing new life into others’ spaces, the Piercys finally got to work on their own dream kitchen.
It all began with Meg Piercy discovering an abandoned dresser in an alleyway while expecting her first child. She couldn't afford a new changing table, so she turned the vintage find into a beautiful addition for their nursery. Motivated by this transformation, Meg and her husband, Joe Piercy, embarked on a quest for more furniture treasures, scouring alleyways and beyond. Within a year of their start selling refurbished dressers on Craigslist, they anxiously secured a lease for their 800-square-foot storefront, officially founding MegMade, Inc.
A cherished motto for the Piercys is "Find the gold," inspiring the name of their HGTV series, Renovation Goldmine. Their mission is to uncover value in every endeavor, be it people, places, or objects. The Piercys have cultivated their business by uncovering the hidden potential in the old, the vintage, and the outdated, breathing new life into forgotten treasures.
“We specialize in mixing old and new, but always keeping quality and customization at the forefront of what we do. Which is where working with Ferguson fits perfectly into place.”

The Realization of a Dream
It may sound cliché, but when asked about her dream project, Piercy says this kitchen renovation is it! The Piercys have dreamed for years about refinishing their kitchen, ever since moving into the house as a fixer-upper during COVID, and it had to be done right. After three years of saving, the Piercys say that finally being able to create their dream kitchen symbolizes the hard work and dedication they've poured into MegMade to make this renovation happen.
“Waiting for a big project takes a lot of planning and money, and this kitchen project is so much more than just another project to Joe and I. It’s a symbol of our hard work over the last few years to really give our family something beautiful.”

A Modern Approach to a Traditional Process
Meg Piercy is known for her fearless approach to embracing bold choices and her affinity for blending elements of the old with the new. She takes pleasure in incorporating vibrant pops of color and fully committing to expressive design decisions.
Piercy describes her overall design aesthetic as modern traditional, yet she welcomes the challenge of working with various home styles and clients with diverse design preferences. Her passion lies in seamlessly merging the old and the new to impart a modern touch to enduring, vintage looks that will withstand the test of time, and her own kitchen project was no exception.
When beginning any new project, Piercy looks to identify the focal point of the space, as it is the area that holds the potential to create the most significant impact. In the case of this kitchen, one could argue that the attention is drawn to the cooking area, in which Piercy was able to integrate gorgeous modern appliances into a traditional kitchen design.
The Perfect Products
Having dreamt of this project for years, Piercy faced the challenge of finally deciding what products she wanted for the space. Living there for some time provided valuable insights into how the family uses it, especially as her children have grown up.
Whether for her own home or a client’s project, Piercy likes to consider the way family life will affect the wear on a space. This is why, in areas with high traffic, particularly in the midst of bustling days of kids and pets, she may recommend opting for certain items over others. In Piercy's perspective, there are products that merit investing extra money to withstand wear and tear, while others can be budget-friendly, especially during the phase when the family is prone to causing wear. This is why the Piercys knew they wanted quality appliances.
This is when the Piercys turned to Ferguson. They commented that the staff they worked with was amazing and made the process exceptionally easy. The Piercys have been using these appliances for a few months now while completing construction, and they couldn't be happier!
They ended up choosing the paneled JennAir 42” wide 25.5 Cu. Ft. built-in refrigerator with an obsidian interior.
They are loving their range and have had the best time making family dinners, thanks to the JennAir RISE 36” wide slide-in gas range with brass burners.
Additionally, they opted for a microwave from JennAir from the RISE Collection, a 30” wide 1.2 cu. ft. 1670-watt built-in microwave drawer.
A crucial element in Piercy's design philosophy is also incorporating captivating lighting to accentuate the various features of a room. Explore lighting options in her Shop by Look page.
