With a cool, California style that spans Mid-century Modern, Boho, and a more transitional vintage, Ashley Hanes brings unique flair to every project. House of Hanes tackles home upgrades, bedroom refreshes, and brand new bathrooms. While she pulls in feature walls and bold colors for her own signature style, she finds inspiration from her colleagues on Instagram and her favorite designers.

Ashley’s House of Hanes Design Process
When working on a big project, Ashley starts with the numbers. The first priority is the budgeting of materials, and arranging the lead times “to make sure everything is aligned cost-wise and timeline-wise,” she says. Her must-haves for any home project are an outlined budget, materials list with lead times, a spec book, and good communication with your General Contractor. Of course, she prefers to always work with timeless materials to last decades.
To keep up with the trends, Ashley looks for statement lighting pieces and plumbing fixtures, and offsets them with earthy tile. While more traditional design wisdom advises matching themes, Ashley likes to break the rules by mixing patterns and finishes. She’s not alone in that style and it’s a hot trend this year.
