4 Ways To Mix the Fall/Winter Pantone Color Palette
We’ve created a color combination for every style.
Many people find it challenging to introduce new colors into their decor. While it may seem easier to live with the same drab hues year after year, it doesn’t have to be difficult to revive your space. We’ve got palettes made of bright shades, muted pastels, jewel tones, and foundational classics to set the tone for whatever your style. If you’ve felt overwhelmed by hues, tints, and swatches in the past, we’ve got you covered...get ready to live in color.

As they have in previous seasons, Pantone® has released its color trend predictions for the Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 season. They are as follows:
"Imbued with strength and personality, [these] colors encourage our ongoing desire for unique self-expression through creative and unusual visual statements that stand out." Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute™
About the Autumn/Winter 2020/2021 NYFW Color Palette:
Published by The Pantone Color Institute, Pantone’s trend forecasting and color consulting arm, the Fashion Color Trend Report is a guide to each season’s most important color trends. This report features the top 10 colors, as well as four classic neutrals, we can expect to see on the New York runway as fashion designers introduce their new Autumn/Winter collections. In turn, these colors influence products, purchasing, and branding of many industries, including: fashion, home furnishings & decor, home improvement, and all types of textiles.
We always highly anticipate these trend forecasts, to see how they show up in the different realms of home decor and in what forms they may take. These color trends are often bold shades and exciting to combine in fun ways. We love to mix and match them, which is what we’ve decided to do this year with the help of Pantone’s new app.
It’s called the Pantone Connect App and it’s been described as a “Shazam for colors” and we’re predicting it will become an indispensable tool for interior designers and digital artists, painters, and anyone else who uses the Pantone color standard.
For our purposes, we had a great time using the app to create palettes. We began with some foundational core hues and combined them with seasonal trending favorites. The results are bold color combinations that we are so excited to share!
Palette 1
Core Hue: Almond Oil
Seasonal Hues: Peach Nougat, Samba, Ultramarine Green
This palette begins with a very neutral shade, making it easily adaptable. Many of us already have this shade or a version of it in our home, either in furniture or other large pieces like a sofa. To interject seasonal favorites from this palette, one could easily add throw pillows or home accents like vases or lamps. An area rug is always a great way to introduce new color combinations into a space as well. We love rugs like this one to incorporate the entire palette, as well as accent chairs in bold colors like green to inject new hues. We love that this palette will easily make the transition from fall to winter.
Palette 2
Core Hue: Blue Depths
Seasonal Hues: Rose Tan, Green Sheen, Magenta Purple
This palette mixes jewel tones with more muted shades, which is completely on-trend for the upcoming season. This blue is a safe shade, and we love the idea of fully committing to it with a gorgeous velvet sofa. Add accent chairs in your next favorite hue, throw blankets in fabulous green, or even poufs and ottomans like in bold magenta. Pull the room together with an area rug like that incorporates the entire palette.
Palette 3
Core Hue: Sleet
Seasonal Hues: Frosty Green, Sandstone, Fired Brick
The shades in this palette are reminiscent of late fall. The Fired Brick and Sandstone remind us of foliage while the Sleet and Frosty Green colors remind us of the first frosts of the season. With sleet as the foundation color, perhaps begin with a kitchen piece like an island. Or if you’ve already got a foundation of sleet, consider an accent piece such as a bar cabinet in a lovely versatile green shade. Add an area rug to immerse the space in the palette and wall art for pops of color all around.
Palette 4
Core Hue: Military Olive
Seasonal Hues: Amberglow, Fired Brick, Classic Blue
This palette combines familiar autumn shades with a classic blue that helps to highlight the other colors, like autumn leaves against a moody blue sky. We might begin with the foundational olive shade, if it’s already present in our home. If not, consider a velvet sofa or a wallcovering like textured wallpaper to set the tone for the space. Amberglow is a less brilliant orange than some fall hues in the same family, but it’s just as gorgeous. We love introducing an accent piece, a chair for example, to bring in that burnt orange color. A bold red statement piece like a sideboard or even a well-placed, Tiffany-style lamp incorporating all of the palette colors can make the entire space work perfectly.
