The bolt remains thrown the majority of the time, keeping the inactive door closed while the other door serves as a passage. Flush bolts are recessed into the door and extend upward into the door frame or downward into the jamb. Installation requires special door preparation so be sure to check your door for whether a round or square cornered bolt is required.
